Cleveland Browns star quarterback Baker Mayfield was apparently watching the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft on Thursday night and he didn’t seem to be all that impressed with some of the analysts.
Mayfield, of course, was taken first overall in last year’s draft and many analysts at the time immediately thought that was too early for him to go and was a bad pick by the Browns.
But he then went out and had an impressive rookie year, leading the Browns to seven wins.
So after watching Thursday’s coverage he took a shot at analysts who were critiquing players and also had a message for all the players who got picked:
All these NFL analysts still crack me up… Just bringing guys down and saying what they “can’t do”… When we all know they aren’t even athletic enough to play checkers. Congrats to everybody who got drafted tonight, keep making people proud and proving people wrong!

I gotta think a lot of the analysts would be able to get through a game of checkers with ease, but whatever.
But their job is to talk about each player’s entire game, so it’s necessary to be honest and open and talk about it all. Though when you watch the draft they do show a lot of good things every player can do and they often bend over backwards to rave about their personal stories.
Maybe Mayfield is still a tad hurt by all the stuff he heard last year, especially since he then went out and had a huge first year in the league.
Now, who’s up for some checkers?
